Honey-Glazed Roast Ham (From Raw)
A classic oven-roasted ham made from scratch and finished with a simple honey glaze. Starting with a raw ham takes a bit more time, but the result is deeply flavorful, tender, and perfect for gathering around the table.
Servings: 8-10 servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 3-4 hours
Ingredients
1 (5-7 lb) raw ham (fresh, uncooked)
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 cup water
For the glaze:
½ cup honey
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Place the raw ham in a roasting pan, fat side up. Add 1 cup of water to the bottom of the pan.
Season the ham evenly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Cover loosely with foil and roast for about 20-25 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
About 30 minutes before the ham is done, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar.
Remove the foil and brush the glaze generously over the ham. Return to the oven uncovered, basting once or twice more, until the outside is caramelized.
Let the ham rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.
